The UNSC Issues Ridiculous Presidential Statement on Yemeni Ballistics Targeting KSA Airport Military Installions

By: Hassan Al-Haifi

The United Nations Security Council continued its maintenance of ongoing warfare and death of thousands of innocents in Yemen, by issuing asinine statements against the victims of a clear and illgitimate aggression.  The UNSC presidential press statement of today condemed the victims of Saudi-Led Aggression on Yemen (Sana’a) for sending 7 ballistic missiles to Saudi Arabian Airports and military installations on April 25, 2018 (https://yemenbreakingnews.wordpress.com/2018/03/27/yemen-air-defense-scare-away-uae-f-16s-after-missile-showering-saudi-arabia-with-7-ballistic-missiles/)  Yemen has not taken any defensive action against three years of horrific aerial bombardment, tight strangling siege, closure of ALL airports, seaports and land entrances (See hollowing infographic of total civilian human losses and infrastructure ruins, as well as irreparable cultural heritage wreckage.

Yemen Civilian Casualty losses since the start of the illegitimaye wsr on Yemen. The UN stubbornly holds on to “an estimate of 10,000 civilians” for nearly a yesr now.

Unfortunately the old adage “Money talks -, nobody walks!” finds a comfortable haven in the UN.

Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) et al have spent nearly $ 700 billion in their bloody campaign in Yemen, now proceeding since March 25, 2015.

Here is text of UNSC non-binding Presidential Statement:

“The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest possible terms the multiple Houthi missile attacks, including the use of ballistic missiles, targeting several cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including its capital Riyadh, on 25 March 2018, which threatened civilian areas and resulted in at least one fatality. The members of the Security Council underlined that such attacks pose a serious national security threat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as a wider threat to regional security. The members of the Council also expressed alarm at the stated intention of the Houthis to continue these attacks against Saudi Arabia, as well as to launch additional attacks against other states in the region.

“The members of the Security Council called on all Member States to fully implement all aspects of the arms embargo as required by the relevant Security Council resolutions, including resolution 2216 (2015) and in that regard expressed their grave concern at the reports of continuing violations of the arms embargo.

The members of the Security Council expressed their grave concern at the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen and the devastating humanitarian impact of the conflict on civilians and called on all parties to the conflict to allow and facilitate safe, rapid and unhindered humanitarian access.

The members of the Security Council expressed grave distress at the level of violence in Yemen.  The members of the Security Council called upon all parties to comply with international humanitarian law.

“The members of the Security Council reiterated the need for all parties to return to dialogue as the only means of delivering a negotiated political settlement and engage constructively with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, with a view towards swiftly reaching a final and comprehensive agreement to end the conflict and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis.”

This irresponsible display of inustice, contemptuous lack of fairness and carelessness about the genocide being perpetrated by the SLC in Yemen with the obvious blessings of UNSC strangulation resolution (UNSC 2216), where in addition to the above direct tragic losses, you have nearly 20 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and 7 million impoverished Yemenis, because of the siege and blockade

In an unprecidented wreckless campaign of ethnic cleansing, the Saudi “led” Coalition announced that the people of Sa’ada should lleave their homes or else be targeted by the Saudi Air Force and othet forces as Sa”ada is viwed by them as a military zone.  This is a war crime, as humans even if living proximate to military zones may not be targeted, according to international law.  With Sa’ada Governorate having many.historical heritage sites, the Saudis would be depriving humanity of significant cultural treasures, some of which have yet to be explored.

Although the Saudis claim to have proposed a five day truce to allow humanitarian assistance. and important basics for life, to be flown in or shipped to Yemen.  So far there is no let up in the bombing and missile attscks, which have led to over 300 fatalities in one week alone, some of which were whole families, with their homes collapsing on them.  The Daudis have intensified their bombardment, missile attacks and shelling of Sa’ada Governorates near the border with Saudi Arabia.  Yemeni tribesmen have recently launched raids inside Saudi Arabia, including artillery and rocket attacks on the cities of Najran and other nearby towns, which the tribesmen claimvyo be in retaliation for Saudis killing tribal members by their indiscriminaye bombings of villages or roads passing through the yribal tetritory.  The tribes carrying out such attacks claim to have yaken over Saudi outposts, killed, injured and even captured  scores of Saudi  troops as prisoners, while  also claiming to have taken substantial amounts of light and medium weapons and ammunition.

The warnings were made in Al-Arabiya Satellite Station.
